Near Me BC iPhone App Puts Travellers on the Map

Have you ever stood on a street corner in a new city and wondered where you could go for dinner?

Now when travellers visit British Columbia with Tourism BC’s new Near Me BC iPhone application, local restraurants, hotels, attractions and much more are just a tap away.

The Near Me BC iPhone application, which is available free from iTunes, allows travellers to immediately access over 4,000 British Columbia listings from HelloBC.com at their convenience.

Using Google map and GPS technology, users can easily search HelloBC.com listings by their current location as well as other areas of the province. The application provides a variety of categories to choose from including: Active & Outdoors, Attractions, Food & Drink, Transportation & Rentals, Accommodations, and Visitor Centres.

Search results provide users with contact information on each listing as well as links directly to operator websites. The application also provides users with directions for getting from their current location to their desired destination.

The launch of the Near Me BC iPhone application coincides with the start of the 2009/10 ski season. While consumers can retrieve immediate and up-to-date information on local ski resorts through Near Me BC, Tourism BC also has a multi-tiered ski campaign geared to showcasing all of BC’s spectacular resorts.
